Nine Dragons

Nine Dragons by Michael Connelly begins with LAPD Homicide Detective Harry Bosch anxiously awaiting a dead body. When the call comes, we get to see the tremendous respect Bosch has for both the victim and their family as well as how serious he takes his mission to speak for the dead. As the investigation unfolds, the robbery/homicide becomes more complicated and personal as Bosch is threatened and has to delve into the world of Chinese organized crime in order to protect those closest to him. With this novel Connelly keeps the pace full speed and the surprises coming right up to the final page. Along the way, Connelly also changes Harry Bosch’s world in a shocking way that leaves me wondering what’s in store next for the haunted hero.
