The Old Man and the Sea

The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway is a wonderful story of one man’s struggle against age and perceived obsolescence. The adventure of being at sea and wrestling with the giant marlin is so vividly portrayed, you can practically feel your muscles straining and taste the salt from the spray of water on you. Hemingway was a master at the top of his craft with this slim tale, and it serves to remind us that even when we’ve fought hard for what we wanted most, the deprivations and degradations of life can steal it from us.
